Electronics Shop

The Electronics Shop (Bagley Hall room 74) supports graduate teaching activities and research.

All staff are skilled in design, development, construction, repair and maintenance of scientific apparatus and instrumentation. A supervisor is available to discuss apparatus design requirements as well as possible solutions to instrumentation repair.

Although our services are primarily for the Department of Chemistry, we are also available to do a certain amount of work for other UW departments.

We can handle emergencies immediately. Small jobs (usually less than four hours of work) can normally be accomplished with little delay. For larger jobs, please plan ahead with the shop supervisor.

Work is requested by completing a work order (available from the shop). A completed form includes:

  • Requester identification
  • A thorough job description
  • Budget number
  • Authorized signature

Hours

The shop is temporarily open by appointment only.  Please contact Bill Beaty (wbeaty@uw.edu, 206-543-6195).  In-person consultation is generally available, with prior arrangement, between 10:00 am – noon and 3:00 – 5:00 pm, Tuesday and Thursday, except UW holidays.
