The Daily, UW's student-run newspaper, published a story on Professor David Hu’s lecture, “Mosquitoes, earwax, and bird baths,” which he presented at the UW on May 6, 2025, for the Paul C. Cross Endowed Lecture in Physical Chemistry hosted by Professor Sarah Keller. Hu visited the UW from the Georgia Institute of Technology where he is a professor of mechanical engineering and biology.
Keller invited Hu to be this year’s guest lecturer after one of Hu’s posts about a paper inspired Dr. Ido Levin, a postdoctoral scholar in the Keller group, to research shark intestine mechanics.
Hu was twice awarded the Ig Nobel Prize, which honors research that makes people laugh and think.
