Daniel Schwartz, professor of chemical engineering at the UW and director of the UW Clean Energy Institute, is the author of this article explaining the process of developing greener technologies and the support that is needed. He mentions BlueDot Photonics, a UW spinoff from the Department of Chemistry working to commercialize perovskite materials for solar applications. Jared Silvia, who graduated from the University of Washington in 2005 with degrees in chemistry and biochemistry is the CEO, and in addition to his appointment as UW professor of chemistry, Daniel Gamelin is the Chief Science Advisor.
