Chemistry staff, students donate generously to UW Pantry

Submitted by Diana Knight on

The Department of Chemistry collected a total of 172.7 pounds of food and toiletries for the UW Food Pantry over a few weeks at the end of autumn quarter. Thank you to everyone who donated items to support the UW community!

Felicidad Smith, the food drive coordinator, calls our contributions "an amazing accomplishment" and writes, "It is because of teams such as yours that the UW Pantry can continue to support students, staff, and faculty while also supporting a community of caring."

It has been a departmental tradition for many years to host a holiday food drive. In recent years, we have worked with the U-District Food Bank, and our most recent drive from November 22-December 16, 2021, supported the UW Food Pantry and the Any Hungry Husky initiative of the UW Division of Student Life.

Food insecurity is a year-round issue and you can help relieve food insecurity among our UW community with your donations of non-perishable and "outside the can" items (details on the UW Food Pantry site), or you can donate or make a purchase from their Amazon Wish List.

Thank you card from UW Food Pantry
