Deborah Illman '76 elected as AAAS Fellow

Deborah Illman '76 was recently elected as a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

Illman was elected along with three other scientists from the University of Washington and are among 505 new fellows from around the world, who are recognized for “their scientifically and socially distinguished achievements” in science and engineering.

Illman is the founding editor of Northwest Science & Technology, former associate editor of Chemical & Engineering News, and former associate director of the Center for Process Analytical Chemistry (CPAC) at the University of Washington.

Illman received her bachelor's in chemistry from the UW in 1976 and is a retired UW faculty member. For more information about Illman's work in science communication, see the websites for the Chemistry Communication Leadership Institute and Northwest Science & Technology.
