Jason Fontana earned his Ph.D. in molecular engineering in 2020 under the guidance of chemical engineering professor James Carothers, and chemistry professor Jesse Zalatan. His work with fellow UW alum David Sparkman-Yager is featured in Unlocking Biotechnology with RNA, May 17, 2022, by the Molecular Engineering & Sciences Institute.
