Submitted by Diana Knight on

Professor Stefan Stoll is among the 36 new members of the Washington State Academy of Sciences, in recognition “for distinguished scientific and community contributions to advancing the field of Electron Paramagnetic Resonance spectroscopy, which have transformed how researchers worldwide analyze data.”

WSAS members are elected for their “outstanding record of scientific and technical achievement, and their willingness to work on behalf of the Academy to bring the best available science to bear on issues within the state of Washington.” The Washington State Academy of Sciences provides expert scientific and engineering analysis to inform public policy-making and works to increase the impact of research in Washington. The new members will be inducted during the academy’s seventeenth annual symposium at the Museum of Flight on September 25, 2024.

As the WSAS noted in their press release, of the 36 new members, 30 were elected directly by the WSAS membership, while the other 6 reflect an effort to invite members of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine living in Washington to serve as members of the Academy. Professor Stoll was among those directly elected by the WSAS membership, which has 400+ members. Stoll is one of fifteen UW faculty members elected to the WSAS this year.
