Catalog Description: 
First of a two-quarter lecture series in organic chemistry, for those who elect not to complete the CHEM 237, CHEM 238, CHEM 239 sequence. Introduction to structure, nomenclature, properties, and reactions of the main functional families of organic compounds. Stereochemistry and spectroscopy. No more than 5 credits can be counted toward graduation from the following course group: CHEM 220, CHEM 223, CHEM 237, CHEM 335. Prerequisite: a minimum grade of 1.7 in either CHEM 152, CHEM 153, or CHEM 155. Offered: AS.
